It's finally here, the day I have been dreaming about for two years. In two days I will be done with my job, thats right sianara suckas. I mean don't get me wrong there have been very many positive things that have come from this time, but all in all I leave with no regrets and with a leap of faith into something I can throw my whole self into... good things to come and keep your eyes pealed for a spin off blog of my adventure I'm about to take for the next few months... more to come on monday! After much, much, much anticipation me and Ron ventured out to see A Single Man when we both had MLK day off. Although unfortunately the elderly people that chose to also go see this matinee chose to speak in the theatre, I'm not sure that anything could've ruined that day for me. The soundtrack is literally another actor in the movie and you can preview it here. I would recommend committing to purchasing it. I have to admit even I was not expecting for this to live up to my very high and often unrealistic expectations, but it did. The film is visually stunning and with some of the best performances by both Colin Firth and Julianne Moore. You must see this movie, seriously!!

So I am not typically a fan of one miss Hilary Swank, however after this little gem last night I have found a new connection with this lady, and lets be honest a mostly topless Gerard Butler helped move this movie along. This movie definitely took me by surprise and I may or may not have even released a tear or two? So if you are like me and have not seen it you must you must watch it, or so i say.

These two dandy gentlemen, did a superb job I must say. I thourghly enjoyed this new film, as well as the new downtown cinema. A great experience, I think Guy Ritchie's best film to date.

Speaking of dates, we went to Lulu's first and had another great meal, paired with this great movie, what a great night! thanks boo!

A new year, time for new finds

So this little lady is a new favorite of mine, apparently this is her second season of canada's hit show Sarah's house. She's cute, a little funny and most importantly has great taste, although I will say with her $5,000 a room budget it would be hard to make it look bad, but i like the modern contemporary homey feel she provides to her remodels... keep your eye out this little canadian is gonna start popping up a lot more often i think...

FYI. not really loving jamie durie's new show on hgtv, a let down because I enjoyed his public television show a lot more, theres still hope though.(fingers crossed)

So I admit that I tried for several, several years to resist the amazing warm temptation, but last year I gave in and purchased my first pair of Ugg's. Now, I am a very hot blooded dego when it comes down to it and for most of the time I just figured that there was no way I could wear something so warm, cuz my feet would overheat, sweat and just be gross!!

Boy was I wrong I instantly fell in love with these babies and contrary to many friends opinions I wore them basically non stop last winter, leaving the in need of a deeeeeep cleaning soon, courtesy Arrow cleaners, if you don't know them find out you will die they are amazing! So for Christmas this year after months of nagging by my loving mother as to what I wanted I finally decided it was time to expand my Ugg collection, so I special ordered these lovelies and basically we are inseparable... that you Classic short bomber in chestnut, we were meant to be!

I hadn't been to a movie in a long time, and after what seemed at the time to be the worst Christmas I could remember, lets just say that choosing to see this movie was not what saved the day. So let down, by so many people in this movie... I will say I thought Sophia Loren looked ahhmaazing, and I kind of enjoyed kate hudson, huh who would've guessed?

Ms. Wintour you are something (insert adjective; ie. crazy, amazing). I went to see the September Issue the other night with my friend for her birthday, and we love, love, loved it. I have to give Anna alot of credit becasue she is able to put out one of the most succesful mags in the business, even if it is not my favorite fashion rag W. I also have some issues with her as well, too many to mention. I must say though one of my favorite parts of the movie was...

Ms. Grace Coddington the creative director of Vogue who started at American Vogue the same day as Anna and some (myself included) might argue that with more experience in the business she may have made a better choice for Editor, but I think in her role she has she is truly able to shine and not deal with all the crap that is left to Ms. Wintour. Regardless she definitely stole the show from Anna in the movie and I enjoyed her tremendously, she feisty but she's very talented and smart. kudos to you Grace we know who the real star of Vogue is!!

WOW! This man is such an amazing icon, I recently did a research project on Mr. Blass and learned a lot. The most unfortunate thing that I learned however is that this amazing American classic is now owned by an Asian licensing company. Lord only knows what will happen with such an iconic name be handed off to the highest bidder, its a tragedy. We miss you Bill, but what really sucks is that Peter Som was doing such an amazing job before the brand shuttered almost a year ago, he really could have brought the brand back to what it had been before, so sad. :-(

I often catch myself day dreaming of what another life would be like. Someday I hope to find out, I love the beat of this city and cant wait to immerse myself into it. When people ask I often find myself ignoring or playing down the whole move to New York, it just seems so cliche but the more time I have spent there and the more time I spend in Kansas City I find myself wanting it more and more! So when I don't know, how I don't know but I do know that it will happen and that If I can make it there I'll make it anywhere... thanks New York!

Back To School!

School has begun one again and although I was excited to get back and fill my time with something productive, the whole fascination of going back to school disappears when your mom isn't waking you up with breakfast, and has milk and cookies ready when you get home from the first long day back. Yesterday I began what will be my 18th year in school... ahhhhhh! Yep you heard me right, I do however feel like I am finally on the right track and ready to settle down and focus on the task at hand. I think this is going to be a good year and I am excited for the possibility of being finished soon! Well, wish me luck...

I think her an Matthew work so well together and I love them for not being media hounds, but thats no surprise for such a classy lady! I have just recently caught on to the wonderful band wagon that is Mad Men Mania! I had hoped to be fully caught up by the new season premier on Sunday and although that didn't happen the tension inside me is building. I love the whole look of this show that 60's era where everyone is completely inappropriate and it is completely okay! I also love that it is a sitcom and that it sparks my interest and doesn't try to be so serious. I am tired of all of the reality tv, I don't want reality or someone's staged version of reality. You should check out the site to mad men yourself. I am excited to see what is still to come in the second season, and third...

my makeover

In May my birthday month I decided to treat myself to a little remodel. As most of you know I am temporarily living north of the river again, aka. with my parents, I thought I would post some pics from the finished product.

These are a few of my favorite... books! Tom Ford, Ralph Lauren, Gap's Individuals, Annie's At work, Christian Dior's fashion Dictionary(hilarious) and a lovely little design book I found on the clearance table @ Halls called Made In Italy, how could you not love it!

The lamp and side table are from target, I painted the lamp which was a dark ebony wood, with leftover paint from the dressers.

The dressers was a find from craigslist, I got both pieces for under $100, some high gloss white paint made these mid century items a little more modern. The screen prints are both old purchases from target, and the metal sculptural big ben, and empire state building. The candleholders I got from CB2, the clock and wooden tray are from crate and barrel.

This is the gadget cluster, its not that pretty but I'm thinking of mounting the tv and stereo to the wall to clean it up a bit and get rid of the books! The lamp is vintage and I know the brass finish doesn't really fit with everything but I just love the look of it and the milk glass shade just does it for me.

This pendant light was just a cheapy from IKEA, seriously why is there not an Ikea in kansas city? We are the heartland of the country, what more central location could you wish for?

I have to admit that these Marimekko sheets are what inspired the entire room... i am still in love with them and I think that for me the bedding was a splurge @ full price for the sheets and quilt, but I do love the look they give!

This is my new obsession, I discovered this @ a friends house I was at this weekend, I immediately had to have it and after I found out it was also a Marimekko fabric I knew I would have to work it into my room... I'm thinking a headboard?? any ideas?

baby days

I don't know what it is but I feel like every time I turn around there's a new baby. It all started about two and a half years ago when one of my closest friends had her little boy, Van. He was the first kid that anyone I was friends with had that wasn't a family member or cousin etc.

Then about a year ago two close friends had there little boy, Aadi is so stinking cute he is definitely gonna be a ladies man when he grows up as he already is a big flirt...

Then shortly after that I met a great little gal that I had worked with for over a year and never met. She soon had her little darling Addison that seems to grow by the second and has the cutest darn hair(mainly because it is curly like my own).

Next my bff who had already started a family with her little boy Van was lucky enough to add a little cutie, Layla she's the only girl with all these boys and I know her big brother Van is going to be very protective of her as he already loves to kiss and play with his new baby.

Shortly after Layla was born I was on a trip to San Francisco I had never been there before and was only going for 2 days but was looking forward to a new adventure, I had never been on a trip all by myself... needless to say the trip didn't turn out so good but while I was there I got the news about this little one... my oldest sister had just found out we was going to have

a baby, now we are expecting a boy and I know that I am super excited as well as the rest of my family.

I have often thought about having children and whether or not I could do it. I know that put in the situation I could do it and that I think some day I will be mature enough to start a family of my own at the right time and in the right place. But, for now I am completely fulfilled being uncle to all these little babies, and spoiling them like crazy, I love it when they look so cute!! I guess this is what happens as time keeps ticking weddings then babies and babies and babies! Could it some day be daddy gene instead of uncle gene? I dont think anyone is ready for that anytime soon!

Gray & Gold

Inspired by my two favorite colors, I have learned that not only are these two colors my favorite but I actually see them in a lot of aspects of my life. I have finally realized (sometimes begrudgedly) that life is usually gray not the black and white that I thought it was a an immature and naive adolescent. The gold I like to think of as those exciting little things that life unexpectantly shares with you as the gold in my life, whether it be a shiny new trinket or a simple note from someone that you love.

So I have decided that these two colors and words that describe me so well would be the best way to to share everything that I know and/or think I know with everyone out there... so this is what i want to say!
